This half term, Year 6 are learning all about ‘The Changing Role of Women’. This week we have learned all about the suffragette movement. The children identified reasons for and against the suffragette movement and examined photographic sources then moved on to watching a re-enactment of one of Emmeline Pankhurst’s famous speeches from 1912 which inspired them to write their own persuasive speech, in role, as though they were a suffragette and a member of the WSPU (Women’s Social and Political Union). Some children wanted to read theirs aloud to the rest of the class.

Have a look at some of their fantastic writing!
