On 28.6.16 Y3 visited Segedunum Roman Fort. Here we see Y3B enjoying getting dressed up as Roman Soldiers.
Year 3 and 4 joined an Etwinning project run by the British Council to communicate with a school in the Czech Republic, and a school in Italy.
First, the children all wrote letters to introduce themselves to one another. After that, the Year 3 children made posters about Easter traditions to send to the pupils in Italy.
They received some lovely Easter cards in return, with greetings written in Italian.
The children at Harton Primary have been lucky enough to work with visiting artist Jane Lee McCracken. As part of a topic on the rainforests, Year 3 students then drew different animals from the rainforests.
They found out about their habitat and why they might be endangered. Jane thought the children were very talented and made a poster showing the drawings from the children.
In Year 3 we have been learning about The Amazon Rainforest this half term. Today we were visited by Rob from Zoo Lab and he brought with him a range of animals that are found in the Amazon. He brought in giant snails, a tarantula, a corn snake, a tree frog, cockroaches and giant millipedes for us to hold and touch. He taught us about the animals habitats and diet and the effects of deforestation.
On Friday Year 3 visited the Sage to watch science and music based performance by Dr Sharon and the Experiments. They sang songs based on science and carried out various experiments using dry ice, foam volcanoes and glow in the dark potions. We all had a fab time and joined in the singing and added some dance moves.
Our Cookery Club goes from strength to strength, and recipe to recipe. We are almost ready to welcome our 5th cohort of parents and children, this time from year 4.
It is lovely to see parents and children working together to produce delights such as banana muffins, fruit salad, pizza, fruit crumble and meatballs in tomato sauce. All items prepared are taken home to share with the family.
Whilst the food is being cooked, the group complete quizzes and word searches. There is a weekly prize for best ‘cooked effort’ and also a quiz winner.
The next group starts on 14th April and will run for 5 weeks of the Summer 1 term. A new group will start after Summer half term, so express your interest now please if you are currently in year 4. For health and safety reasons, and because it is promoted as a parent and child group, an adult must accompany their child to each session. Mmmmm!

Year Three visited The Baptist Tabernacle on Friday 22nd of January 2016, a second Church, to compare the similarities and differences between it and The Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 15th of January. Here we see the children looking at the how people are baptized.
Year 3 celebrated World Christmas Day by looking at Russian Christmas customs. They learnt some Russian words, facts about Russia, the story of Baboushka, made Russian nesting dolls and even tried some traditional Russian Christmas food.
On Friday we all came to school in our Christmas Jumpers. Everyone looked great.
