Super Poetry!

Y2S, have been writing a range of different poetry based on this time of year! We then shared our poetry with the rest of the class.

Year 2

A Dark Night’s Poem!

This week Y2D have became word detectives and have been working super hard to write lots of different verbs, adjectives and nouns to help us write fantastic dark nights poems.

When we came to write our poems Miss Devlin gave us some rules we had to follow (some of us had to include some added extras too!). We were fantastic at following them though because we had our word detectives nouns, adjectives and verbs ideas already. We wrote a class poem together following Miss Devlin’s rules.

We then worked in pairs to write out our own poems following the rules for each line.

When everybody had finished we listened to some children’s poems (they were amazing!) and we gave another pair of children 2 stars (2 things about their poem we love) and 1 wish! ( 1 things to improve on). We had a fab time writing poems!

Each week we will be looking at a different area of maths and showing our parents what is expected in year 2.

This week we looked at place value and the fun ways of learning it take a look at our parents getting involved in problem solving with the help of base 10!

Y2D have been starting to learn how to work out some difficult multiplication calculations. To help us we have been drawing arrays and using cubes to make arrays to help us see how many lots numbers we have.

Some of us have even been drawing on the tables to show our working out!

Just in time for Bonfire night we have been learning about the importance of keeping safe around fireworks.

Instruction Writing

Year 2 have had lots of fun looking at different instruction texts as well as writing their own. They’ve particularly enjoyed this topic in English because they have had the chance to make (and eat) so much delicious food!

Spread the delicious jam generously over the slice of bread.

Then carefully cut the sandwich in half.

We waited patiently to eat our sandwiches!

The soup was given a thumbs up by Matthew!

The girls loved it too!
