Y2S can use number squares to find number bonds to 100.
Y2D have had a fantastic day exploring the George Stephenson Museum as part of our current History Topic. We had lots of fun looking at old fashioned trains and how they functioned and we loved making our own models (although some of the adults got a little competitive!). Thank you to our fabulous parent helpers we hope you had just as much fun as we did!
Y2E had a brilliant time at the Stephenson Railway Museum. The children enjoyed looking at the different locomotives and found out lots of interesting facts about George and Robert Stephenson. They also worked in teams to create 3D posters about George Stephenson and his life including his inventions. The class were also inspired to invent new modes of transport using junk modelling.
In Y2D we have kicked off our learning with fun and exciting new tasks! We have particularly enjoyed using iPads to make word clouds in literacy it was much more fun than making our usual spider diagrams we all joined in and came up with some brilliant ideas for our setting descriptions to go with our new topic ‘Traditional Tales’.
We have also been learning about habitats and food chains in science which we find super interesting.
In maths we have been stretching our brains and solving some tricky problems and balancing equations – check us out superstars we are!
A reminder that Y2D class assembly will be at 9am on Friday 2nd February 🙂
This week we have been doing loads of super adding and subtracting using a range of different equipment.
Before the Christmas holidays, every year group created beautiful Christmas cards to send to other European countries. We have received cards from schools in lots of countries including Spain, Croatia, Bulgaria, Poland, Wales and Latvia. Each year group also received their own set of cards created by children at another Spanish school. Y2E were also fortunate enough to receive personal Christmas cards from their new pen pals in Spain. We can’t wait to take part in more international projects!
Our last week in school has been very festive and we have loved every minute.
We would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year .
We have had a fun packed December in Y2D!
From shape investigating to jamming to Rak Su at the Christmas Party! The children have worked their socks off writing fantastic facts and eyewitness accounts about the Great Fire of London, they have really worked hard and showed Miss Devlin and Mrs Lamb how fantastic they truly are!
We hope the children have an amazing Christmas break they deserve it after all their super hard work – well done a fabulous Autumn Term Y2D.

Today, in our maths workshop, we looked at the different strategies for solving division problems. Miss Devlin, Miss Errington and Miss Smith are all extremely grateful to the wonderful parents for attending the workshops and for their kind, helpful feedback.
The children, teachers and parents have had a fantastic morning taking part in a range of different activities.
The children and parents enjoyed:
- Winter multiplication.
- A character profile of an elf.
- Writing their Christmas wish for our year group Christmas tree.
- looking through their books showing the amazing progress the children have made in Year 2 so far.
