Reader of the Month

Congratulations to our Reader’s of the Month in January. As always, Reading is a top priority for us at Harton Primary and the children continue to make us proud with their achievements in this area.

Special shoutouts to:

Saifan in Year 1 who has moved up 2 book levels in just a few weeks!

Rory in Year 2 who has shown huge improvements with his reading. He has gained great fluency and is trying to hard with reading.

Our Year 3 pupils have impressed their teachers with 100% in their AR quizzes – Well done Louie, Aurora- Rose and Gracie!

In Year 4, Congratulations to George for amazing effort in reading. He has the reading age of 15 years and 2 months!

Jacob in Year 5 who has made progress of 1 year and 11 months in his STAR reading assessment.

And finally Amelia, Savannah and Charlie in Year 6 who have all made excellent progress in their STAR reading assessments.

Reader of the Month

Congratulations to our Readers of the Month for November.

We love celebrating the children’s reading achievements with them at Harton Primary and this month was no exception.

The children continue to amaze us with their achievements and enthusiasm. Many of the teachers have commented that the children who were chosen have shown ‘consistent effort’ with their reading in school and at home. We always encourage the children to aim for progress rather than perfection as always, we are so proud of them.

A special shout out to Carter in Year 1 who has improved his confidence so much when reading in phonics lessons, to Sienna in Year 2 and Ivy in Year 3 who have both made super progress and moved up reading levels, and finally a shout out to Emily in Year 5 who is ‘smashing all her tragets’ in class.

Well done to everyone!

 

Reader of the Month

Congratulations to our Reader’s of the Month for October.

These children have been chosen by their teachers for their outstanding work with all things Reading!

Key stage 2 pupils have been recognized for their efforts to read at home more and improve their engaged reading time using AR.

In Key Stage 1, pupils have been trying hard to sound out words using their decoding skills and teachers have been amazed with progress in Phonics lessons.

Well done everyone! We hope you enjoy reading your new books at home! Keep it up.

 

Our first Half Millionaire!

A huge congratulations to Sophie in Y5T. We have never had a Half Millionaire so early into the academic year! Sophie’s photo will be the first to grace our prestigious ‘Millionaires Row’ display and we are sure we will have her photo as a Millionaire very soon. Keep up the amazing reading Sophie!

Summer Reading Challenge – South Tyneside Libraries

South Tyneside Council’s Summer Reading Challenge 2025 begins this week on Saturday 5th July. We have shared information about this with the children in assembly this morning. It would be wonderful to see them continuing to read and enjoy books over the summer holidays while visiting our local libraries.

Record-breaking reading!

Today we awarded Romilly with her Word Millionaire certificate and trophy, making her Harton Primary’s youngest EVER Word Millionaire! We are so unbelievably proud of her and we know how hard she has worked to achieve this.
Congratulations also to Betsy in Y6 who is now a Half Millionaire.

AR Stars

Well the AR Awards just keep rolling in!
Congratulations to Maisy and Sophie who are now Word Millionaires.
Jayden and Charlie have become our first Multi-Millionaires! The boys have both read over 2,000,000 words each! Wow! A special mention to Charlotte also who designed the prestigious Multi-Millionaire trophy and it has now been created using our 3D printer.
Congratulations also to Sadie who is now a Half Millionaire.

We have another Word Millionaire! Congratulations to Maximus in Y4 who is one of our youngest millionaires. A fantastic achievement!
We would also like to give a special mention to Sophie in Y6. Sophie’s design was selected to be used for our new Millionaire trophies using our 3D printer and here she is presenting her own design, brought to life. Well done Sophie!
