We have loved reading the story ‘Super Duper You’ this week. The children have thought about what makes them super duper. Look at how proud they are of their fantastic work and look at their amazing ideas.
This guide is one of the ways that BookTrust, the UK’s largest children’s reading charity can support you and your children to find joy and excitement from books and reading.
Included in the guide are book recommendations for books that are silly, scary, informative and moving (and everything in between). All the books will engage and excite children up to the age of 11.

Congratulations to them all! We hope they enjoy reading their new books.
This week we have been listening to the story Elmer. We have had lots of fun retelling the story of Elmer and practising our letter formation in our new colourful tuff tray.

Keep up the fantastic work!
Year 4 have been working extremely hard to improve their Reading Plus levels. We have been so excited to share with you some of our successes from completing our reading lessons. Some of us have received silver or bronze combo awards and some of us have moved up levels. We are looking forward to reading more stories and progressing through our levels.
The children have started learning set 1 sounds and have been taking part in daily RWI phonics lessons. They have loved exploring our sound stones in the outdoor area and have even been word building with the sounds we know. SUPER READERS RECEPTION!
Well done Year 5! So many children have been reading at home and bringing their reading records back to school. Some children have even read up to 14 times at home in one week!
Remember to bring your reading records in on a Friday so you can be rewarded for reading at home.
Keep it up π
We are reading Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo in Year 6 in English this half term. This is a story all about all about a boy named Michael who is washed up on an island in the Pacific and struggles to survive. He can’t find food and water but then he finds he is not alone on the island.
To support our reading and writing around the text we took part in a Wilderness Outdoor Education workshop which linked to the text and discussed what we need to survive, we learned about fire lighting techniques and most of us (the brave ones) managed some bug tasting!
We are very excited in year 1 this week to start our home reading books.
Children will take home their reading books every Monday and are to return them to school every Friday.
Children will be rewarded onΒ Friday for returning their reading books.
From the year 1 team π
Congratulations to Harry Johnston (Y6W) and Theo Roberts (Y6D) who have read over one million words on Accelerated Reader and become our latest Word Millionaires.
We are so proud of all of our millionaires this year and we have had the highest number of Word Millionaires this year than we ever had before.
