We used practical apparatus to work out amounts in pounds and pence. We consolidated different ways of writing down an amount in pounds and pence. Finally, we were able to compare different amounts.

Year Three have been learning about fractions. In order to investigate equivalent fractions we used fraction circles. By making 4/8 and 1/2 with the circles we could easily see that they are equivalent! We found lots of equivalent fractions.

Year 5 have been learning about angles and how to measure angles using a protractor.
Amelie’s tip is “If the angle is an acute angle then it must be less than 90 degrees.”
Alfie’s tip is “The point of the angle should be at the cross of the protractor and a zero should be on the line.”
Ebony said, “When you’re measuring your angle, make sure you are precise and accurate by checking it.”
In maths, we’ve been developing our knowledge of fractions. We can convert between improper fractions and mixed numbers! We’ve found bar models really useful to help us understand subtracting fractions from whole numbers and mixed numbers.
This week Y3 have been working hard to find unit and non-unit fractions of amounts. Today we moved on to look at equivalent fractions. Mrs Powell gave us a fraction then we used fraction tiles to find equivalent fractions.
This week, in Reception, we enjoyed making Christmas biscuits. We discussed the instructions using the following language: first, then, next, after and last. We had so much fun and they tasted yummy!
Our Key Stage 2 pupils took part in the national Times Table Rock Stars ‘England Rocks’ competition last week. Amazingly, we came 16th out of 4000 schools across the whole country!
Especially well done to Y6F who came 53rd out of 29,000 classes, closely followed by Y5F who came 79th.
We are super proud of all our pupils who took part, showing how amazing they are at their multiplication facts. A fantastic achievement!
Take a look at our superhero cities. We are so proud of them! First we mixed black with our blue paint and it made the colour darker. Then we used squares and rectangles to create our tall and short buildings. Finally we added some superhero words. We came up with POW, BOOM, CRASH, SMASH and ZAP!
This week we have been learning about the police. We became footprint detectives! We used cubes to measure different sized footprints. We counted the cubes to find out how long each footprint was.
Reception have been using the part-whole model to explore the composition of 4! We recorded our findings in a number story once we found out which smaller numbers make 4.
